16 Aug SERENE ENSUITE
Serene Ensuite
Warm tones of grey were the backdrop for this serene elegant ensuite. Designed for taking some time out it also needed to be easy to use and maintain for this busy family.
THE CHALLENGE
Designing a room to relax for this family home in Walton on Thames. Undergoing an entire house refurbishment the clients contacted us to help design, supply and install their master ensuite and family bathroom.
The couple knew they were in safe hands with Sanctuary having worked with them at their previous home. Top of the wish list for the new master ensuite was a walk in shower. They really missed their old walk in shower that we had previously incorporated into their old home and wanted to have the luxurious shower indulgence again.
With the ensuite being a shared space we didn’t want the room to feel cramped instead somewhere that would flow as well as offering privacy. With an early London commute having a space to get ready in the morning without waking the other partner from a restful sleep was essential.
THE SOLUTION
An indulgent and spacious walk in shower was placed at the end of the room, the perfect escape day and night. We designed this placing a bespoke frameless shower screen with a bette shower tray. This created a streamlined minimal design that not only looked stunning but was also easy to clean. A stylish yet practical recess was placed within the shower for extra storage. To add to the perfect shower experience a large overhead shower was included along with a smaller handset by Hansgrohe for occasional use.
Zehnder’s nobis heated towel rail was placed to easily access towels after showering. The contemporary design adds a new twist on a classical ladder rail whilst providing generous space for warming towels.
The striking vanity area was designed with a dual basin by Artelinea whose luxurious elegant units combine Italian style with durability, ample storage and simplicity. The reflective glass surface in ‘terra’ a beautiful warm grey tone was set off with a stunning bevelled mirror with LED touch lighting.
Sitting beautifully above the countertop basin were Axor Citterio M wall mounted basin mixers, which also gave hints of the past blending 1930s design with modern elements.
Little Green’s French Grey was chosen for the walls adding further warmth to the overall design. The finishes touches were the porcelain floor and wall tiles, reproducing Italian off-white marble with faint blurred taupe streaks. This created a contrast between the colours and traditional wood tones in the master bedroom.
THE RESULT
An idyllic master ensuite that has an open plan feel with a luxurious walk in shower and spacious statement vanity area. With warm calm colour tones, reflective surfaces and natural light the perfect space for this busy couple, modern and practical yet serenely stylish.
