Monochrome Classic
Timeless elegance was the theme for this master ensuite.
THE CHALLENGE
A busy young family wanted us to create a sanctuary they could retreat to with their master ensuite. Having extended their home to create a large open plan kitchen and family room they were looking to update the rest of the property with the master ensuite last on their wish list.
Eager to design a traditional bathroom they approached us to share inspiration and expertise to create a room they desired. Offering both the luxury of modern living but also complementing the interior of their elegant Victorian property in Weybridge.
The couple asked us to create a dressing area, separate shower, vanity unit with additional storage and include a feature bath whilst keeping this all within the traditional look and feel of the property.
The ensuite was located on the 2nd floor where some areas had limited height within the eaves so it was key that our design worked with the layout to incorporate all the elements desired whilst retaining a sense of space.
THE SOLUTION
Initially we looked at the space as a whole working with our clients to divide the room into individual zones. This meant we were able to add a much needed dressing area as the clients were unable to include wardrobe storage within their master bedroom due to restricted head height. This was hidden behind a discreet sliding pocket door built into the newly constructed wall which also allowed us to conceal the wall hung WC frame and services.
A monochrome palette was chosen throughout the design, the black and white bathroom created the classic traditional style our clients were looking for whilst giving them an easy backdrop to stamp their own personality into the room.
To retain the elegant design we included a spacious in-frame vanity unit painted in dramatic Little Greene Lamp Black. With a sit on basin with wall mounted taps and drawers this provided storage and surface areas around the basin for every day toiletries. Combined with a striking decorative mirror and ornate light fitting positioned above the overall effect created a classic vanity area.
Aspiring to have a large separate shower area, we were able to incorporate a sizeable separate walk in shower by Bette with a traditional overhead shower and a subtle recess to provide essential storage. Keeping the overall sense of space a traditional wall mounted WC from Imperial Bathrooms was added allowing a seamless flow of the beautiful floor tiles.
THE RESULT
Adding a sense of luxury a stunning roll top Richmond bath by Victoria and Albert baths was placed within the window bay. The bath and bath feet were hand-painted on site in Little Greene Lamp Black to complement the vanity unit and provide a stunning statement as you enter the room.
We even created additional bespoke bathroom storage, constructed within the eaves adjacent to the bath to store and hide away bulky but essential items.
The choice of furniture, layout and colour palette worked perfectly together, creating space and a real impact in this master ensuite with a design that provides timeless elegance.
