21 Feb CHATEAU GREY SHAKER
Chateau Grey Shaker
Perfect for this period property was a timeless shaker kitchen, in cool greys to create a stylish and inviting homely space.
THE CHALLENGE
This classic Victorian family home had recently undergone a renovation which included an extension to the rear to increase light and views of the garden and enjoy open plan living. Wishing to relocate the kitchen to the back of the room and the lounge nearer the garden they approached us to design a character kitchen. A space that would not only look right for this delightful period home but also function well for the family.
THE SOLUTION
A timeless English painted shaker kitchen was chosen in chateau grey to blend perfectly with the character of this property. Floor to ceiling cupboards were neatly positioned on one side to house everything larder storage, an American fridge freezer and ovens. This kept all the essentials tucked away but easily accessible.
This meant the space on the opposite side could have a simple shaker design with generous work surface proportions. With everything stored in the larger cupboards there was less need to include overbearing cabinets on the walls just base cupboards. Instead floating open shelves were positioned either side of the hob with lighting making the kitchen much more spacious and bright.
Placed at the centre of this family kitchen was an exquisite island with seating, storage and a wine fridge making it perfect for both family and social occasions.
Keeping everything neutral sensa granite in colonial white was chosen for all the work surfaces. This stunning unique natural material worked beautifully with the grey units and featured as the splash back above the hob maintaining the understated but stylish sleek look.
Darker grey tiles seamlessly flowed throughout the room and the trio of pendant lights over the island added the finishing touches.
THE RESULT
Hidden storage and plenty of work surface with an island as the focal point were perfect for this family kitchen. The shaker design exquisitely complimented the character of this detached Victorian home. Now the family had the kitchen living space they desired, a room that they could all enjoy.
