Bathing Bliss – Baths To Keep You Warm This Winter
When investing in a new bathroom the choice of bath is a key consideration to help you relax and unwind at the end of your day in your new room.
There are many things to consider when choosing a new bath because it is often the main focal point of the bathroom so style, shape and material needs to be explored. From a design point of view, it is usually the size and shape of the room that dictates what sort of bath you choose and if you have enough space to play with you can even consider a luxury freestanding bath.
“When designing a new bathroom, it is important to understand from the client the functionality of the bath. Do they want to have jets for a spa-like feel, a traditional freestanding bath to suit a character property or a bath that is practical for all the family? Then we explore materials, there are now many different options available on the market; from carronite, steel or composite materials such as Victoria & Albert baths Volcanic Limestone,” says Emily Hyde, co-founder of Sanctuary Kitchens and Bathrooms.
Types of baths:
- Single ended baths
- Double-ended baths
- Shower baths
- Roll top baths
- Freestanding baths
- Whirlpool baths
At Sanctuary Kitchens and Bathrooms our preferred material for a bath is steel due to its excellent all round properties. Steel baths are resistant to chemicals, non-porous, scratch resistant and impact resistant.
They also conduct heat so quickly absorbing the warmth of the bath water, which dispels the myth that steel baths are cold to touch. Our manufacturer, Bette baths, also offer a 30-year guarantee on their baths and shower trays to provide further peace of mind.
Bathrooms can be made even more cosy and enticing during the winter months by introducing a number of elements that can warm up your bathroom or at least give that illusion of it being warmer.
Heated towel rails in replacement of a radiator can add luxury to the bathroom giving you a wonderful way to wrap up in a warm towel after a long soak in the bath, these again can come in many different styles and designs to suit your room.
Incorporating underfloor heating provides an even consistent heat throughout the room keeping the room cosy for those cold winter months, the Devimatt system we use is thermostatically controlled so turning itself down once the room reaches the required temperature making this an efficient and economical way of ensuring the room maintains your preferred temperature throughout the year.
Adding a hot colour such as orange or red to the walls can also bring a sense of warmth to the room.
